San Diego Open-Source Software Organization

The ‘SDOSS’ is the Open-Source Software organization in San Diego. We promote the inclusion of Open-Standards, and Open-Source solutions where applicable. We are dedicated to educating software professionals of the choices that are available in the Open-Source community. We encourage the use and participation in Open-Source projects. We are not anti-commercial software. However, we are against the blind illusion that commercial software is always a better choice.

We welcome your assistance with the SDOSS, and look forward to seeing you at our upcoming meetings. If you have questions or comments about SDOSS you can reach us at info@sdoss.org

We are always seeking topics and presenters for our meetings.

SDOSS Speakers Guide

The SDOSS is the Open-Source Software forum in San Diego. We promote the inclusion of Open-Standards, and Open-Source solutions where applicable. We are dedicated to educating software professionals of the choices that are available in the Open-Source community. We encourage the use and participation in Open-Source projects. We are not anti-commercial software. We are against the blind illusion that commercial software is always a better choice.

Our presentations are directed toward decision makers in the software development and support industries. We encourage our presenters to discuss the ‘why’ of their software decisions.  Our members are interested in the business and technical reasons for the use of Open-Source solutions.

Topics should include one or more Open-Source solutions, and the reasons that they should be considered. The Presentation may include comparisons of features, performance, ease (or lack thereof) of use, technical benefits, etc. When appropriate, the financial trade-offs should also be enumerated. Our members are interested in your evaluation process.

While a purely verbal presentation is acceptable, the use of visual material is encouraged. The SDOSS has a high resolution video projector (We can also provide a computer with Open-Office; Corel; or Microsoft presentation software). If the presenter wishes, we will post their presentation to the SDOSS website.

The meeting chairperson is always looking for material! So if you would like to present, or know someone who would make a good candidate. Please let me know.

Meeting Chairperson:
